The Identity Ninja™ recognition program reinforces IMI’s mission to advance excellence and recognize elite masters in IAM, identity governance, privacy, risk management, and compliance. By celebrating elite professionals, IMI demonstrates its commitment to IAM mastery, leadership, and the future of digital identity security.

The program recognizes IMI-certified professionals who stand out as technical and strategic leaders in identity management. The program aims to:

• Honor members who achieve a defined level of IMI certification.
• Promote excellence, collaboration, and innovation within the global IAM community.
• Inspire other professionals to pursue higher levels of certification and skill mastery.

Identity Ninja Eligibility

To qualify for the Identity Ninja™ title, members must:

• Hold at least five IMI certifications to demonstrate mastery.
• Maintain active IMI membership and certification in good standing.
• Demonstrate passion and dedication by actively participating in IMI communities to share expertise and make an impact.

IMI Certification Pillars

The Identity Management Institute (IMI) organizes its 9 professional certifications into three foundational pillars that cover the complete lifecycle of identity and access management, from governance to technical implementation, operations, risk management, and compliance.

These pillars ensure that IMI-certified professionals demonstrate balanced, multidimensional expertise across the identity management ecosystem.

Duties and Responsibilities of Identity Ninja Title Holders

Uphold IMI Values and Ethics

• Demonstrate integrity, professionalism, and ethical behavior consistent with the IMI Code of Ethics.
• Represent the Identity Management Institute with honesty and respect in all professional and public engagements.

Promote the IMI Brand and Mission

• Act as an advocate for IMI’s certifications, programs, and initiatives.
• Share experiences, success stories, and positive outcomes that highlight the value of IMI’s mission in advancing identity and access management excellence.

Contribute to the IMI Community

• Participate in IMI forums and discussions to support peers and share expertise.
• Mentor or guide other members pursuing IMI certifications and career growth in IAM.

Exemplify Professional Leadership

• Serve as a role model within the identity and security industry.
• Demonstrate thought leadership through research, presentations, or collaboration on identity governance and risk topics.

Protect IMI’s Reputation and Intellectual Property

• Use the Identity Ninja™ title responsibly and only in accordance with IMI’s branding and communication guidelines.
• Avoid any statements or actions that could disparage, misrepresent, or harm the reputation of IMI or its community.

Foster Trust and Collaboration

• Encourage cooperation, diverse thinking, and ethical innovation within the global identity management community.

Granting Authority

The Identity Ninja™ title is an official recognition awarded exclusively by the Identity Management Institute.

• IMI is responsible for verifying eligibility, reviewing certification levels, and approving candidates.
• Titles are granted upon successful completion of at least five IMI certifications, confirmation of good standing with IMI membership policies, and active involvement in IMI communities.
• The award may also be conferred honorably by the IMI Executive Leadership to industry leaders who have made extraordinary contributions to the IMI community.

Identity Ninja Title Revocation Policy

The Identity Ninja title is an honorary recognition granted by the Identity Management Institute (IMI) to members who demonstrate outstanding achievement, professionalism, and commitment to the field of Identity and Access Management (IAM). Maintaining this distinction requires continued alignment with IMI’s values, ethics, and membership requirements. The award criteria are subject to change at any time.

The Identity Ninja™ title may be suspended or revoked under the following circumstances:

1. Membership Lapse: The title is automatically revoked if the member’s IMI membership expires or is terminated.
2. Ethical Misconduct: The title may be revoked if the holder violates IMI’s Code of Ethics, professional conduct standards, or certification policies. Identity Ninjas must hold at least 5 certifications at all times.
3. Disparagement or Misrepresentation: The title may be revoked if the holder engages in conduct that disparages, discredits, or publicly misrepresents the Identity Management Institute, its programs, certifications, or community.
4. Misuse of Title: The title may be revoked if used in a misleading, unauthorized, or deceptive manner.

Governance and Oversight

All decisions regarding the granting, suspension, revocation, or termination of the Identity Ninja™ title are made at the sole discretion of the Identity Management Institute.

Identity Ninja Fees

Becoming an Identity Ninja™ is FREE to IMI members who meet the eligibility criteria. In addition, membesr will receive a 10% discount when enrolling in certification courses beyond the first certification.
